General Purpose of Job

The Chief of Strategic Initiatives is a high-level management position that is responsible for developing, communicating, and executing Children’s Networks strategies to enhance strategic initiative, meet future goals, and promote growth. Primarily responsible for strategy formulation and management and works with the CEO, organizational leaders, and the Board to develop and execute organizational strategic plan and organization initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes a business strategy to expand existing relationships and identify and secure opportunities with new business partners.
  • Drives initiatives and strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives and expand current Agency programs.
  • Create a leadership pathway for agency staff, focus on identifying potential leaders, providing structured development programs, implementing mentorship, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
  • Contributes to the development of CNH strategic goals and objectives, as well as the overall management of the organization.
  • Develops and regularly updates a comprehensive business development plan, with targeted goals, objectives, methods, quantifiable outcomes and timelines to achieve agency sustainability and annual budget goals.
  • Manage all aspects of specified grants and non-CBC programs including operationally, functionally and budgetary. Monitors program operations for quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develops program sustainability strategies to ensure financial viability of programs and services.
  • Build partnerships and strategic alliances that will extend the organization’s brand in the community and increase avenues of support.
  • Oversee the development of proposals and non-Community Based Care contracts for new business opportunities and partners with senior management in negotiations.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other Agency stakeholders to support business development plans.
  • Generates positive community awareness of the organization, its mission and impact, and strengthens its brand and reputation with business partners, clients and the community we serve.
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Embraces the core values and mission statement of the Agency.

 

 

Working Hours

CNH’s work week is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.  Your supervisor will advise you of your work hours; however, business office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

Travel

CNHC’s believes in work life balance for all employees. This is an in-office position, Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm averaging forty (40) hours per week. Working hours may vary based on business needs.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

 

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership role (i.e., management)
  • Child welfare knowledge preferred

 

 

Skills and Abilities

Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences. Proficiency in public speaking and delivering impactful presentations is essential, along with demonstrated expertise in planning, coordinating, and executing events, campaigns, and outreach initiatives. Possess analytical skills to evaluate recruitment data, measure outcomes, and adapt strategies for maximum effectiveness. Creativity and innovation are key, particularly in implementing recruitment practices and leveraging social media and digital marketing to drive engagement. The role requires exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, as well as the capacity to build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and internal teams. A deep understanding of the needs of children in care and the critical role of foster and adoptive families is vital, along with a strong commitment to advancing the mission, vision, and values of Community-Based Care

Qualifications


Pre-employment Requirements

Certificates, License, Registrations, backgrounds, drug screens, Etc.

  • Valid state of Florida driver’s license required, with proof of insurance
  • Driver’s license check is a requirement
  • Criminal background screening (fingerprinting) (Local Law Enforcement and FBI/FDLE)
  • Drug Screening is a requirement
  • Children’s Network participates in E-Verify

Language Skills

Must possess strong language skills to effectively communicate strategic goals, advocate for policy changes, and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Clear and persuasive verbal communication is essential when engaging with government agencies, community partners, funders, and internal teams to ensure alignment on key initiatives. Equally important is the ability to draft well-structured reports, grant proposals, and policy documents that convey complex information with clarity and precision. Active listening and negotiation skills play a crucial role in building consensus, addressing challenges, and ensuring that the agency’s mission is effectively implemented. Additionally, empathetic and culturally competent communication is vital when discussing sensitive child welfare issues, reinforcing trust and transparency within the organization and the broader community. Strong language skills are needed to influence decision-making, drive impactful changes, and enhance outcomes for children and families.

 

Mathematical Skills

Possess the ability to analyze data, evaluate financial trends, and support strategic decision-making. Proficiency in data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting is essential for assessing program effectiveness, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring financial sustainability. Must have the ability to interpret complex statistical reports, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and use quantitative insights to drive evidence-based strategies. Additionally, skills in financial modeling and cost-benefit analysis aide in optimizing funding utilization and securing grants. The ability to work with metrics, risk assessments, and operational data to ensure that strategic initiatives are both impactful and fiscally responsible.

 

Reasoning Ability

Must possess strong reasoning ability to analyze complex challenges, develop effective solutions, and make sound strategic decisions. Critical thinking skills are essential for evaluating data, assessing program effectiveness, and identifying areas for improvement. Must be able to synthesize information from multiple sources, including financial reports, policy guidelines, and community needs assessments, to develop strategies that align with the agency’s mission and long-term goals.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position are generally moderate. The role may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and using a computer. Occasional lifting of office supplies, files, or materials up to 25 pounds may be required. Work Environment

This is an in-office-based position focused on administrative work, where the noise level may be moderate. This role may involve occasional travel among agency locations, extended periods of computer work, and frequent interactions across multiple departments.
