General Purpose of Job
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing daily HR operations and providing support across various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and training. This role ensures alignment with company policies, fosters a positive workplace culture, and contributes to strategic HR initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including posting job openings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and extending offers.
- Facilitate full onboarding process and orientation programs for new hires
- Employee Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Mediate conflicts and facilitate resolutions in collaboration with management
- Promote positive employee engagement and retention strategies
- Policy Administration:
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations as well as agency’s contractual requirement
- Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies as needed
- Benefits Administration:
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions
- Coordinate with the agency’s benefit administrator to resolve issues
- HR Operations:
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems.
- Auditing of employee personnel files for contractual compliance
- Partner effectively with other teams to ensure strategic goals and objectives are being upheld
- Work closely with the Director of Human Resources to deal with issues of employee accountability, misconduct, corrective plans, coaching and development.
- Perform other projects and duties as requested by the Director of Human Resources or Executive Leadership team.
Working Hours
CNHC’s work week is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Office hours are 8:00am-5:00pm.
Travel
Travel in and outside of Hillsborough County amongst agency locations may be required.
Training
All employees must complete fifteen (15) hours of on-line or classroom training on an annual basis. If the employee is a Certified Child Welfare Professional, Training hours must total twenty (20) annually.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of HR generalist or related experience preferred.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to demonstrate a combination of technical and soft skills to effectively support an organization’s workforce. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Organizational and time management skills are a necessity. Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees and management, are critical. Must be adept at problem-solving, conflict resolution, and handling sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity. The ability to think critically and strategically, combined with a commitment to continuous learning and staying informed about HR trends and legal updates, ensures success in this role while fostering a positive and compliant workplace culture.

Certificates, License, Registrations, background checks, drug screens
- Valid driver’s license required, and clean driver’s license check is required, with proof of insurance.
- No special certification or registration is required for this position.
- Criminal background screening requirement (fingerprinting) (Local Law Enforcement and FBI/FDLE)
- Annual Abuse Registry Check
- Drug Screening is a requirement.

Other Skills and Abilities
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, policies, and regulations is essential. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from various stakeholders of the agency. This position also requires the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, and external stakeholders.
Mathematical Skills
Strong mathematical skills are required for tasks such as analyzing HR metrics, calculating employee compensation, benefits, and payroll data, and managing other HR-related financial calculations. The ability to work with basic mathematical concepts, including percentages, ratios, and averages, is essential for ensuring accuracy in reporting and decision-making.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to ability to apply logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Must be able to interpret complex information, analyze situations, and make sound decisions based on facts, data, and organizational needs. Strong reasoning skills are necessary for resolving employee issues, ensuring compliance with policies, and identifying opportunities for improving HR processes and practices.
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this position are generally moderate. The role may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and using a computer. Occasional lifting of office supplies, files, or materials up to 25 pounds may be required. Work Enivorment
This is an in-office-based position focused on administrative work, where the noise level may be moderate. The role may involve occasional travel among agency locations, extended periods of computer work, and frequent interactions across multiple departments.
