ChildServe has an opening for a Medical Billing Specialist I. This team member will be supported by a tenured team, have opportunities for growth and be able to enjoy a hybrid work model.

Schedule

General business hours, M – F, hybrid work out of our Johnston office is an option once trained.

What You'll Do

Revenue Cycle Management

  • Record and apply payments and/or adjustments in the billing system, reconciling batch totals. Reconcile cash accounts daily for all ChildServe
  • Document claim denial reason in the billing system, according to reason codes provided on explanation of benefits forms.
  • Verify charges, procedure codes, and diagnosis codes utilizing appropriate modifiers and diagnosis digits.
  • Review insurance payments to verify insurance companies are paying according to their fee schedule.
  • Review and assist in appealing unpaid claims and help resolve payment discrepancies. Works aged accounts to ensure reimbursement.
  • Prepare and submit monthly or weekly billing to the correct payers within a specified timeline. Prepare monthly invoices for families and other pay sources.
  • Make recommendations for adjustments and write-offs of non-collectible accounts.
  • Perform various collection actions including contacting patients and third-party payers.
  • Act as a resource for patients, families, providers, and payers regarding patient accounts and applicable regulations.

Process Improvement

  • Participate in the design and implementation of new accounting procedures and processes for new and existing programs.
  • Make recommendations to revise existing accounting procedures to enhance quality and consistency of financial transactions.
  • Serve as back up for other team members.

What You'll Need

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Associate degree in accounting, Business Management, or Healthcare related field, preferred.
  • One year of medical billing experience required, understanding of medical terminology and coding.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality regarding the affairs of clients, staff, their families, and ChildServe business.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships and demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
