Medical Childcare Assistant - (Full-Time)

As aMedical Childcare Assistant, you will contribute to a great life for children and young adults by supporting their health skill development and retention. You will provide and assist with care and treatment services to children as designated by their individualized care plan. You will also collaborate directly with an interdisciplinary team of nurses and therapists to assist with child development.

About Medical Childcare:

Child Serve 's Medical Childcare program offers specialized weekday care for children and young adults with medical needs and developmental delays. The program includes on-site therapy services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Our Day Health program focuses on each child's overall health. For this reason, we provide therapeutic activities to develop coordination, self-confidence, social competencies, and more.

Benefits and Compensation:

The starting pay rate for this position is $15/hour.

This role is full-time and eligible for health benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, paid time off, and a 403B retirement account. PTO is frontloaded upon hire and starts accruing immediately.

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday 9:30am-6pm, hours may vary.

What You'll Do

• Assists the clients at Child Serve in becoming as independent as possible through skill development and retention
• Follows all aspects of the care plan, within scope, to include nursing, therapy, and behavior support
• Provides a therapeutic environment for care and treatment
• Follows change of shift procedures to assure communication and continuity of care
• Provides care within scope as designated by nurse
• Maintains accurate, complete and timely records
• Communicates with children and young adults, licensed professionals, ChildServe personnel, families, schools, and the public, in a courteous and professional manner
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
  

What You'll Need:

• Preferred: Two year degree in human services or education but will consider those pursuing their associate's or bachelor's degree. Therapy majors considered also.
• Preferred: Experience working with children with disabilities.
• Must pass the Iowa DCI child and adult abuse and criminal background check prior to hire and every two years thereafter and complete the child abuse affidavit.
• Must also pass the National FBI criminal record check.
