What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN/LPN Pediatric Group Respite (PRN - Flexible Hours) position at ChildServe?
The role of a Respite Nurse is to offer one-on-one time between a child and licensed nurse within the family’s home or community, or to provide nursing support and oversight to 10-12 children in a team environment on weekends. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs. Child Serve’s respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children, schedule appointments for themselves, or simply take time to recharge.

When You’ll Work
- Group services start Friday at 6pm through Sunday 6pm.
- Flexible scheduling, working 8-12 hours shifts.
- Provide nursing support, rehabilitative needs, and preventative care in a ratio of 1:3 at the Child Serve Center
- Interact with the child and participate in fun activities.
- Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS
- Possible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.
- Current valid RN/LPN license in Iowa
- Valid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three years
- Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience working with children with special health care needs preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
