We invite highly skilled, dedicated professionals to join our team of therapists, educators, nurses, counselors and administrative support. We have a current opportunity for a Parent Educator in our Parents As Teachers (PAT) program.

POSITION SUMMARY

Parent Educator

Program: PAT Location: Snohomish County Schedule: 0.75 – 1.0 FTE Salary Range: $25 - $28/hr

PAT is a national home visiting model supporting caregivers with children aged 0-5, which is strength-based and has been shown to prevent child abuse and neglect. Our PAT program focuses support to families under significant stress or hardship, with a goal of increasing attachment between a child and their caregiver.

A parent educator implements the PAT model through home visits, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being in their work with families. The parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families while encouraging whole child development, and play-based and experiential learning.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Have an Early Childhood Development credential, or an AA or BA in a related field, and experience in infancy and early childhood development. At a minimum, must have high school diploma/GED and at least two years of paid experience working with children.

· Be willing to complete 2 week Parent’s as Teachers’ training and become certified in the curriculum.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read and process online data in English.

· Ability to maintain family privacy and confidentiality of sensitive information.

· Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.

· Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths.

· Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

· Ability to work independently and be self-motivated (often in the field).

· Willing to learn and grow as part of a team.

· Ability to work some evenings or flexible hours.

· Must possess a valid WA state driver’s license, have state required minimum automobile insurance, and be able to use own vehicle on the job.

· Preference is given to native speakers of Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, Tigrinya, Russian, Tagalog, or other languages spoken in Snohomish Co.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Plan, provide and document home visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being

· Complete various assessments and screenings with families, including family-centered assessments, developmental screenings, health screenings and mental health screenings.

· Plan and provide group connections to give families an opportunity to build social connections.

· Engage in recruitment activities (as applicable).

· Develop, monitor and review goals with each family.

· Connect families to resources that help them reach their goals and meet their needs.

· Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation in a timely manner.

· Participate in at least two hours of reflective supervision monthly and weekly staff meetings.

· Obtain competency-based professional development.

· Participate in continuous quality improvement.

Founded in 1963, ChildStrive is a growing non-profit agency serving children and families in Snohomish and north King Counties. We are pioneers and respected leaders in providing family centered parenting support and early intervention services to pregnant women and young children birth through 3 years old.

ChildStrive partners with families to support young children’s success in daily life and in the community.

We serve our community through four programs:

Early Support for Infants and Toddlers serves families with children birth to three years of age who have a developmental delay or identified disability;

Nurse Family Partnershipserves first time pregnant women through pregnancy and until their child turns two years of age;

Parents as Teachersserves families who are pregnant or have a young child who are living with trauma or chronic hardships, including housing instability or poverty.

Community Outreach serves families with preschoolers who are homeless and living in shelters or who are isolated and lack support. The Outreach program also partners with the Tulalip Tribes and provides consultation services to childcare providers serving families in transitional housing.

ECEAP is a high quality preschool and family development program for underserved families in partnership with Snohomish County and the State of Washington.
