Teacher Assistant - Chileda Learning Center in Menasha, WI
Chileda's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavioral challenges. Its goal is to help students increase their appropriate social behaviors and develop independent living skills through an enriched learning environment and individualized behavior programming. We are now accepting applications for a Teacher Assistant to join the Chileda Learning Center. This position is first-shift, full-time!
Summary:
Teacher Assistants follow lesson plans created by the classroom teacher, as well as set up activities and help clean the classroom at the end of the day. They will also help train DSP staff on PBSPs, obtain and maintain status as an Approval Staff and be assigned to the same classroom to provide consistent staffing. In addition to classroom duties, Teacher Assistants will perform all job duties of the DSP's in addition to their regular job duties.
Job Duties Include:
- In conjunction with the classroom teacher, perform the following duties:
- Follow lesson plans created by classroom teachers to direct students and DSPs with classroom activities and educational material.
- Set up classroom activities as designated in the lesson plan.
- Set up student's daily schedules.
- Assign and track walkie-talkies.
- Clean the classroom and put away items at the end of the day.
- Ensure all data is collected and forms completed prior to the DSP's leaving for the day.
- Maintain trainer status on all students within the assigned classrooms and ensure that DSPs assigned to the classroom are trained on the assigned student's PBSP.
- Train DSP staff on student behavior programs and ensure training forms are completed and turned in at the proper location.
- Consistently and competently implement various best practice techniques within Chileda, including communication systems or programs, crisis intervention programs, social skills programs, and social stories.
- Use technology appropriately in the classroom for instruction.
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment that promotes student learning.
- Incorporate components of a structured teaching environment.

- Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm
