What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lift Mechanic position at China Peak Mountain Resort?
SUMMARY: Installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains machinery and equipment of chairlifts and surface tows as per ANSI Code for Passenger Tramways Aerial Tramways, Aerial Lifts, Surface Lifts and Tows Safety Requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs pre-operational inspection of chairlifts.
- Observes chairlift in operation and listens to their sounds to locate potential problems.
- Removes, repairs or replaces worn or defective parts as directed.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Reports daily maintenance activity to Supervisor for logging.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Due to the many variables that affect Winter resort operations, such as weather and number of guests, occasionally employees may be asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility as needed, including performing in any subordinate position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 18 years of age.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
TRAINING, CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
China Peak Mountain Resort Certified Lift Operator
China Peak Mountain Resort Certified Snowmobile Operator and/or
China Peak Mountain Resort On-duty Skier/Snowboarder Certification at a minimum Level 3
Current valid California Drivers License with an acceptable driving record preferred

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
