What are the responsibilities and job description for the 504/MTSS Facilitator (25-26 School Year) position at China Spring ISD?
Primary Purpose:
Implement the 504-evaluation process. Asses the educational, learning styles and program needs of students referred through the 504. Work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students under 504. Assist the building principal in providing a proactive, character education program to encourage students to maximize personal growth and development.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s in Administrative Leadership or Counselor or other field in Education
Valid teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special education diagnostic procedures
Knowledge of rules and regulations governing 504
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of research-based instructional strategies
Demonstrated respect for and rapport with all educational stakeholders
(peers, parents, students, administration, etc.)
Demonstrated ability as a presenter/facilitator
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
3 years teaching experience
Previous evaluation experience preferred or previous counseling experience
Technology literacy (Internet, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, IEP Plus, Google docs, Eduphoria, Success Ed)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
- Receive student referrals and implement the 504-evaluation process and the MTSS process.
- Monitors students in 504 and /or MTSS to ensure that they are given sufficient support.
- Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student’s cumulative folder, classroom teacher(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource personnel.
- Facilitate the 504 regarding interpretation of evaluation data, development of interventions and accommodations and appropriate placement for student according to district procedures.
- Provide staff development to assist school personnel in the identification of students who fall under 504.
- Assist classroom teachers with interventions strategies.
- Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students that fall under 504.
- Articulate the district’s mission and goals in the area of 504 and/or MTSS.
- Assist school personnel in helping students explore alternative education programs and career counseling.
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required by federal and state rules and regulations and district policy and procedures.
- Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school district.
- Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
- Assess and respond to needs related to job responsibilities.
- Maintain strict confidentially of student information.
- Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and campus personnel.
- Consult with parents, teacher, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
- Develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignment, including behavioral and academic strategies for students and 504 laws.
