ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1965, the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income communities. Today, CPC is the nation's largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City, including early childhood education, school-age care, youth services, workforce development, community services, and senior services. PROGRAM SUMMARY
CPC Open Door Older Adult Center provides individuals over 60 with an array of services designed to assist seniors emotionally, mentally, and physically. The program provides educational, recreational, and cultural activities/workshops that promote an inclusive, active, and healthy lifestyle for seniors.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Open Door, the Deputy Director will provide leadership support and training to both staff and volunteers, assist in program planning and development and aid in the day-to-day center operations and activities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide administrative, programmatic, and financial management support
- Assist in the preparation and administration of the center’s budget and program milestones alongside the director
- Monitor daily program operations, identify facility and equipment concerns and contact director of facilities for assistance
- Be the liaison between CPC Open Door Older Adult Center and Building Superintendent
- Work with the director and Senior Center Advisory Board to identify service needs
- Assist in developing programs in the areas of social arts & cultural, educational and recreational physical health management & other activities to fulfill the needs of community members
- Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures
- Outreach and develop meaningful partnerships with local community organizations and/or individuals for program enhancement
- Engage seniors, inspire and motivate staff, and represent the center and agency in community and interagency activities
- Coordinate the activities of staff and volunteers through the establishment of objectives, policies, practices and DFTA standards
- Assist with supervising, encouraging and providing professional development and growth opportunities for staff
- Oversee case management/case assistance and administrative duties as designated by the director, including but not limited to, inputting case assistance data to the electronic database
- Assist in providing information and referral/telephone reassurance to address community members’ needs
- Ensure effective implementation and protocols to ensure program’s compliance with DFTA, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and other city agencies
- Assist with the enforcement of DFTA rules and regulations
- Prepare and submit accident/incidents reports to DFTA as needed
- Assist with the preparation of DFTA's assessments and corrective action plan report when needed
- Follow DFTA standards, review records for accuracy and completeness of documentation
- Attend and complete DFTA trainings and other external and internal agency trainings as required
- Serve as the main point of contact for Open Door Older Adult Center in the program director’s absence, as well as oversee program administrative and supervisory responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned by the director
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master of Social Work preferred
- At least 5 years of supervisor experience in managing, and developing programs and staff

- Knowledgeable and understanding of community issues and needs
- Dynamic, engaging, and capable of effectively working in a team environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical and decision-making skills
- Able to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments
- Fluency in English and either Mandarin or Cantonese preferred; Spanish is optional
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
- $27.48 - $30.22 per hour; 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends
