Your Mission:
The Research Study Assistant plays a key role in advancing a collaborative project between CASL’s Alzheimer’s Program and Rush Hospital, aimed at better serving Chinese American individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Related Dementias (ADRD) and their families in the Greater Chicago area. This position focuses on community outreach, participant recruitment, facilitating interviews, and collecting qualitative data to explore familial strengths, identify community needs, and advocate for necessary resources.
As part of this initiative, the Research Study Assistant will provide Chinese translation services during interviews, support data collection, and assist with research activities. Reporting to the Alzheimer Program Coordinator with supervision provided by the Associate Director of Behavioral Health, the role ensures effective communication between CASL and Rush Hospital while upholding HIPAA compliance. The position is contingent on project funding through August 31, 2026, with no guaranteed extension beyond the project end date.

\n- Recruit study participants within the Chinese American community
- Schedule intake, assessments, and client interviews
- Conduct focus groups and co-facilitate client interviews
- Collect and record qualitative data gained during intake, assessment, and interview
- Facilitate communication between CASL and Rush Collaborates
- Organize and participate community outreach and educational events on caregiving support
- Translate materials during client interviews
- Enter data collected during interviews into relevant systems.
- Maintain detailed client files, including contact dates, assessments, interviews, and other touchpoints. Create reports on observed patterns from data to Alzheimer Program and Rush Collaborators
- Report any concerns or issues to the Principal Investigator (Director of Clinical Services) and the Alzheimer Program Coordinator. Uphold HIPAA compliance when collecting participant information at social events
- Collaborate effectively with CASL Alzheimer’s Program team members
- Education & Experience:
- Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent (GED);
- Ideal for someone who wants to enter into research/healthcare field
- Experience in research, healthcare environments and/or caregiving roles
- Experience in qualitative data collection and analysis
- Proficiency in spoken and written Chinese required (Mandarin highly preferred and/or Cantonese) and English. Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, problem-solving, and organization
- Experience working with caregivers and care-recipients while practicing cultural competency
- Frequently required to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods
- This is a part-time role working approximately 1015 hours a week
- Work is performed during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with flexibility to work evenings or weekends, as necessary for outreach events
- Hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility to work both onsite at CASL and remotely, as well as within the Chicago community for outreach and engagement activities
Compensation & Benefits:
This position offers an hourly rate of $20.00 – 25.00, reflective of experience and qualifications.
