DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties described below are indicative of what the Parks Caretaker might be asked to perform. The following duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive as job duties and responsibilities are park specific to Pine Point, Morris Erickson, Round Lake, and Otter Lake.
Administrative Functions:
• Open and close park gates.
• Collect camping, electrical, firewood and other designated user fees from park users; maintain a record of such receipts in accordance with department policy; and make timely bank deposits of receipts.
• Enforce park rules and regulation, and related ordinances as directed.
• Cleaning and disinfecting the public restrooms and cleaning any outbuildings as needed.
• Pick up garbage and recyclables from garbage cans as well as litter on the park grounds as needed, and place in appropriate dumpster.
• Upkeep and maintain park grounds and beach by mowing & trimming grass, raking leaves, cleaning beach area, picking up debris, etc. (Haul litter and trash to dumpster at Morris Erickson Park from Round Lake County Park.)
• Perform minor repair and maintenance of signs, buildings, tables, structures, etc., within the park, and assist full time staff in park maintenance as directed.
• Meet with the park users and provide pertinent information as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.
Customers:
• Primary customers consist of the all citizens that have business with and / or visit any of the County Parks that we manage
Team Members:
• Primary team members consist of employee members of the F&P Division & volunteers
• Secondary Team members consist of the DOA, F&P Committee, County Board, Numerous other County, City and state offices and / or departments and Multiple User Groups and Organizations
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the continuation of employment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) years of full or part-time work experience required.
- Custodial and maintenance experience preferred.
- A valid driver’s license required.
- A cell phone is required.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, which include over-time, weekend work and/or split shifts to meet the demands of the job as determined by the Department Head or Parks Maintenance Supervisor.
Salary : $15 - $17
