Chipton-Ross is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Manufacturing Engineer – Computer Systems Specialist to support a leading manufacturing client in Syracuse, NY. This contract role focuses on managing and maintaining computer systems and networks on the production floor, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and in alignment with operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Computer Systems & Network Management:
- Maintain and support production-specific hardware, software, and network infrastructure
- Ensure systems operate reliably, securely, and efficiently
- Work collaboratively with the IT department to maintain consistency with enterprise-wide standards
Technical Support:
- Provide frontline technical support and training to production personnel
- Create and maintain technical documentation and user guides
Operations Support:
- Partner with manufacturing teams to align systems with operational workflows
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity
Cybersecurity:
- Enforce and support company cybersecurity policies and best practices
- Collaborate with IT to implement protective measures across systems
Project Management:
- Lead and support system upgrades, integrations, and migrations
- Coordinate efforts between internal teams, contractors, and vendors
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on computer systems and networks
- Strong understanding of Windows and Linux OS, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
