Job Summary:
As the Data Center Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our state-of-the-art datacenter and colocation facility in Chester, VA. Your primary focus will be to ensure the continuous uptime, security, and efficiency of the facility while leading a team of technicians and engineers. You will also work closely with clients to address their specific colocation needs and maintain excellent relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the datacenter and colocation facility in Chester, VA.
- Manage a team of datacenter technicians and engineers, providing leadership, guidance, and technical expertise.
- Ensure the facility adheres to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for security, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Monitor and optimize datacenter infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and server equipment, to maintain peak performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer support teams to understand clients' colocation requirements and provide customized solutions.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to source equipment, negotiate contracts, and manage service agreements.
- Plan and execute datacenter expansion and upgrades to meet the growing demands of our clients.
- Implement and maintain strict security protocols to safeguard the datacenter and prevent unauthorized access.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to datacenter procedures, operations, and incident reports.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential issues and recommend improvements.
- Manage the datacenter budget, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience (10 years) in managing and operating data centers and colocation facilities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide technical staff effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of datacenter infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, networking, and server hardware.
- Familiarity with industry best practices, compliance standards, and security protocols for datacenter operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams effectively.
- Demonstrated project management abilities for handling datacenter expansion and upgrades.
- Proficiency in using datacenter management tools and monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient practices and environmental sustainability in datacenter operations is a plus.
