The Data Science team is the team that develops predictive analytics capabilities in support of key corporate initiatives across the Enterprise, including, but not limited to: Marketing, Loyalty, Finance, eCommerce, Development, Global Sales, and Brand teams. Your Responsibilities

• Develop models and predictive analytics solutions to inform business decisions using machine learning, AI, and other statistical techniques.
• Deliver timely and accurate ad hoc analyses in support of strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with Data Delivery and IT teams to build machine learning pipelines and operationalize models that may require multiple technologies (e.g. AWS Sagemaker, AWS Lambda, etc.).
• Provide guidance and support for the selection of third-party data sources that can improve modeling effectiveness.
• Research cutting-edge methodologies and contribute to upskilling the overall team’s capabilities.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

• Master’s Degree in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or similar quantitative field
• At least 3 years of analytical experience is required with a background in applying statistical model and techniques including linear and generalized linear models, segmentation and cluster analysis, time series analysis, and other predictive analytics methodologies
• Experience developing and deploying machine learning models such as decision trees, gradient boosted models, and neural networks
• Experience applying common data preprocessing tasks including over/under sampling, data scaling, imputation, and dimension reduction
• Familiarity with common evaluation metrics including RMSE, precision, recall, accuracy, and AUC
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Advanced proficiency using Python and SQL, proficiency with GIT version control
• Experience with AWS environment, including AWS Sagemaker; AWS certification preferred
• Experience synthesizing analytic insights into concise presentations and presenting to high-level stakeholders
• Independent project management experience, from project scoping to final delivery
• Proven record of evaluating business trends and developing solutions to enhance business performance
• Demonstrated key competencies to include managing complexity, decision quality, and cultivating innovation.

Your Team

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Manager, Data Science. You will have eight peer teammates on the broader Data Science team and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Senior Data Scientist, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $135,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP). 

The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
