Position Summary
The Chief Philanthropy and External Relations Officer develops, manages, and executes effective strategies to raise funds for CHNK Behavioral Health. The position will also develop, manage, and execute effective marketing strategies that increase the organizations reach. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the senior leadership team. The position will regularly present to the Board of Trustees, manage the Philanthropy Committee of the Board, and oversee the Community Board.
Minimum Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited educational institution (Marketings, Sales, Communication preferred) is preferred but equivalent knowledge and experience is accepted.
- Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation, or active pursuit of CFRE, preferred.
- At least 5 to 7 years of successful advancement and marketing experience with a proven ability to plan and execute.
- Exhibits fundraising proficiency; ability to solicit and close sponsorships and philanthropic gifts.
- Relationship driven. Identifies, develops, and fosters meaningful relationships with individuals and corporations from all walks of life and in various environments.
- Community development professional. Ability to network in the community and identify individual and corporate major gift prospects.
- Persuasive presenter. Tells compelling stories that appeal to stakeholders on an emotional level and illustrates how a difference can be made.
- Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills. Creative, self-starter attitude. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Fiscal management and budget development skills. Able to grasp basic accounting skills to achieve and surpass budget expectations.
- Results oriented. Focuses on key priorities, executes with excellence, and meets or exceeds annual goals. Acts with a sense of urgency, and with the result in mind.
- Critical thinker. Creates a revised, positive direction and motivates others when things do not go according to plan.
- Operates with a high level of attention to detail. Highly organized, proficient at multi-tasking, and proven ability to work with minimal supervision.

- Experience planning and executing special events.
- Experience with donor database management (Raisers Edge preferred).
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a trustworthy manner.
