What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Institutional Research position at Choate Rosemary Hall?
POSITION PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Director of Institutional Research (IR) provides leadership and performs all necessary functions related to the collection, interpretation, and use of institutional data to support administrative decision making, strategic planning, and strategic initiatives; oversees and coordinates a comprehensive program of reporting and analysis, survey administration, and project management in support of institutional assessment and decision-making; and serves as a central resource for information and analysis in efforts to address institutional priorities and improve institutional outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides research to the leadership of the school in support of strategic, evidence- based decision making, using results analysis, and comparative data analysis, and longitudinal data management.
- Responsible for identifying and proactively advising on statistically significant data changes or insights.
- Designs and oversees the development and implementation of an interactive data reporting system, ensuring the validity and integrity of the data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Works with school administrators to identify institutional data needs.
- Monitors the overall integrity of the data warehouse, coordinating with Information Technology Services and guiding departments to take appropriate steps to correct data discrepancies when noted.
- Establishes a disciplined approach to reports and surveys.
- Creates, maintains, and produces - on a regular schedule - standardized reports needed by the administration.
- Collects data for and conducts any necessary external reporting.
- Develops, administers, analyzes, and reports on surveys that measure engagement, performance, and satisfaction for institutional constituents.
- Identifies and utilizes research tools to understand better the experience of currently enrolled students and alumni.
- Acts as the point of contact for any issues relating to research/data driven decision making.
- Trains colleagues in the art and science of effective and impactful data collection.
- Collects third party data and research, analyzes external forces and trends to guide marketing for the School. Identifies trends and opportunities for growth, development, and outreach.
- Consults and coordinates with key partners across campus, including Communications, Development, Admission, and Information Technology Services to meet these goals.
