What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Baseball Coach (SCHS) position at Choctaw Co?
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports directly to the athletic director and principal.
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the particular sport.
- Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
- Works closely with the Athletic Director in the following:
- Organization and scheduling of all interscholastic sports.
- Transportation for athletic contest participants.
- Securing game officials.
- Establishes the physical and academic requirements for eligibility for participation in each sport and verifies each athlete’s eligibility.
- Requisitions supplies, uniforms, and equipment for athletic programs.
- Arranges all details and needs of the visiting team.
- Makes all necessary arrangements for the use of non-playing fields and facilities.
- Makes a practice schedule for the team on the field and in the gymnasium.
- Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
- Maintains practice fields, game fields and gymnasium. This includes, but is not limited to, mowing grass and cleanliness of these facilities. NOTE: It is expressly understood that the head football coach is responsible for the maintenance of the practice and game fields during the summer and will have these fields ready for use in the fall. The head basketball coach is responsible for the gymnasium and the head baseball/softball coach is responsible for the baseball/softball field.
- Enforces discipline and sportsmanship at all times and establishes/oversees penalties of breach of such standards by individual students.
- Participates in all required trainings by the AHSAA.
- Personally responsible for all fines handed down by the AHSAA.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal.
