JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate
(2) Training in science of reading
(3) Three references
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of and ability to deliver effective instruction in foundational reading based on the science of reading,
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with program teachers, administrators, and staff,
- Ability to use oral and written communication effectively,
- Effective written and oral communication skills, and
- Ability to physically and emotionally fulfill the job requirements
JOB GOAL
To provide instruction in an intervention program designed to help students close foundational reading gaps
SUPERVISOR:
School Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide instruction in foundational early literacy based on the science of reading
- Maintain a nurturing classroom environment
- Ensures progress monitoring of all assigned students receiving intervention services
- Create daily lesson plans in accordance with learning goals and objectives
- Maintain and record daily attendance
- Utilize pre- and post- assessment data to inform instruction
- Communicate student progress to parents
- Implement student reading improvement plans
- Attend all trainings deemed necessary by the Lead Literacy Teacher
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal
