What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Assistant 2 - Full Time - Durant Clinic position at Choctaw Nation?
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Collects and processes patient specimens for lab testing. Obtain and communicate appropriate information concerning patient specimens and reports. Perform waived/moderate testing as deemed competent. You will report to the Laboratory Manager.
Primary Tasks:
- You will perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of all ages. Follow sterile procedure appropriate technique and approved collection equipment to obtain required specimens for testing.
- Maintain the knowledge necessary to obtain and process specimens from the following age groups: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescence, Adult and Geriatric.
- Label specimens correctly and deliver to proper testing area.
- You will process sample for test analysis for waived/moderate tests as deemed competent.
- Have workable knowledge and skill in use of the lab information system.
- Process all specimens requiring preparation for referral to reference labs.
- Perform waived and moderate complex laboratory testing and report results back to ordering provider.
- Maintain lab reports files in orderly and proper condition.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and associate information
- Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- On the Job Training
- Knowledge and capability to of processing lab specimens
