What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometry Technician Durant Optometry position at Choctaw Nation?
Job Purpose or Objective(s): As an Optometry Technician you will provide patient care such as ordering glasses, equipment sterilization, ancillary testing, restocking meds, and assisting patients with frame selection and order. You work under the supervision of and report to the Optometrist.

Primary Tasks:
1. Perform test including auto refraction, obtain visual acuities, visual field testing, reading glasses prescriptions, and OCT testing
2. Obtain intraocular pressures, instilling medication into the eyes, and retinal photography.
3. Record the chief complaint and reason for exam, pupillary evaluation, extraocular muscle evaluation, and equipment sterilization.
4. Assist patients with frame selections, measuring the pupillary distance, mark lenses for bifocals, explain lens options to the patient, and place orders for spectacles.
5. Verify spectacle prescription upon receipt of glasses, which may also include calling patients for pick-up and dispensing and frame adjustment.
6. Manage electronic medical record documentation, medication verification/updates, and facility fee coding/documentation.
7. Maintain stock of ophthalmic medications used in office.
8. Assist reception with patient scheduling/rescheduling, answering phones, and dispensing/adjusting glasses when needed.
9. You will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Computer knowledge and typing accuracy
- Good communication skills, work ethic, and attitude
- Basic knowledge in optometric field
- Organized and has the ability to work well with the general public and other departmental staff
