Role Overview:
As a Business Development and Municipal Relations Specialist at Choice One, you will build and develop relationships with existing and potential clients, particularly focusing on local government entities with needs in transportation and public works infrastructure development. Your primary responsibility will be to assist municipal clients in determining how our value can help them achieve their objectives. You will identify potential clients who align with our services and execute strategies to connect with them. Additionally, you will maintain a database of contacts, stay in contact with existing and potential clients, and attend relevant meetings and events. This position requires collaboration with our team of engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and lead generation staff to achieve company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and nurture relationships with municipal clients, demonstrating a personal touch and genuine concern for their needs and interests.
- Serve as an enthusiastic brand ambassador, sharing our company’s values and approaches with clients.
- Assist municipal clients in evaluating how our services can help them achieve their objectives.
- Assist municipal clients in strategically planning and applying for different federal, state, and/or local funding sources to help pay for their infrastructure projects.
- Identify potential clients who would appreciate the value we offer and create and execute strategies to connect with them to generate new business opportunities.
- Maintain regular contact with existing and potential clients, keeping them informed about possible projects and opportunities while strengthening relationships.
- Maintain an organized database of client contacts, interactions, updates, and opportunities across various jurisdictions and organizations.
- Attend and present at council meetings, board meetings, tradeshows, networking events, and conferences.
- Collaborate and meet with the internal business development team and project managers to discuss upcoming opportunities, strategies, potential clients/projects, and other pertinent matters.
- Support clients and coworkers in developing public and private infrastructure projects, including roadways, traffic management, utilities, site design, stormwater management, and land development.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Experience working with or for local government entities or in the civil engineering industry.
- Experience in business development or client relationship management, is a plus.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively engage with clients.
- Strong ability and drive to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Demonstrated networking capabilities, including attending and representing the company at industry events and conferences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage client information, follow-up actions, and reporting.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to project success.
- Ability to travel daily throughout Ohio (typically within 90 miles of Loveland, OH), as well as flexibility to accommodate occasional evening commitments and overnight stays within the region as needed. This role will require approximately 2-4 evening commitments per month and approximately 2 overnight commitments per year.
