Job Overview
The Service Advocate plays a crucial role in supporting individuals and families by providing guidance, resources, and advocacy within the community. This position requires a compassionate individual who is skilled in crisis intervention and possesses a strong understanding of social services, and housing opportunities. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence to navigate challenges related to housing stability, access to services, and goals to self-sufficiency.
Duties
- Serve as a point of contact for those seeking assistance with housing-related issues.
- Assist with assessments to identify client needs and develop personalized service plans.
- Provide information on available resources, including Section 8 housing options and community support services.
- Assist with negotiating with landlords and property management companies to facilitate housing placements.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to assist clients facing immediate challenges.
- Offer support in areas such as motivational interviewing to promote client well-being.
- Collaborate with social workers, legal professionals, and other stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive support for clients.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Proven skills in negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques and trauma informed counseling practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
