Seeking a Full-Time LMSW. Must be PRO-CHOICE with excellent clinical skills. Must have crisis management skills. Experience in medical setting a plus. Ability to follow brief therapy model, produce clean, concise documentation, and educate patients on the subject of women's reproductive healthcare. Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ready to hit the ground running!
The LMSW acts as an integral part of the clinical team, is responsible for all duties as a social worker and functions to promote the CHOICES mission and to achieve the vision of establishment of a comprehensive, progressive and quality driven service to the community.
Responsibilities:
- Permanent sterilization and HIV counseling
- Review and discuss patient medical histories, alerting the GYN and medical providers of any problems
- Educate patients on birth control options, prenatal counseling
- Review consent forms with patients and obtain informed consent for procedures and services including but not limited to prenatal care, IUD insertions, colposcopy procedures and both medical and surgical abortion
- Refer patient to outside agencies when the need arises
- Provide pregnancy test results
- Facilitate hospital referrals when patients are not able to be serviced at Choices
- Conduct psychosocial assessments with prenatal patients upon initial visit and as needed
- Conduct and score depression, trauma, intimate partner violence and substance abuse screenings
- Educate patients on smoking cessation when necessary
Qualifications:
- Current LMSW in New York State
- Experience in Women's Health
- Spanish speaking highly preferred
