Job Description:
The Mobile Crisis Evaluator is a critical member of the Choices' Jefferson Parish Mobile Crisis Team, providing support services to consumers and families experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
Under the supervision of the Lead Clinical Evaluator, the Mobile Crisis Evaluator conducts immediate crisis assessments using appropriate screening tools and evaluations to determine safety risks and provide follow-up intervention and stabilization services to youth and families in the least restrictive setting that is clinically appropriate.
- Assess and identify issues contributing to a crisis and develop individualized crisis safety plans.
- Facilitate hospital admission and arrange transportation as needed.
- Provide follow-up services during the 7-day post-crisis period.
The Choices Jefferson Parish Mobile Crisis Team operates 24/7, providing emergency responses for youth and adults experiencing a behavioral health crisis in Jefferson Parish.
The MCS team works from a strengths-based perspective, collaborating with first responders, community stakeholders, clinical leadership, and fellow mobile crisis responders to ensure individuals are effectively stabilized within their home and community whenever possible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Articulate the mission, vision, and practices of the MCS program.
- Communicate practice expectations to consumers, community partners, and funders.
- Respond to crisis referrals according to Choices' policy.
- Adhere to policies and protocols established by Choices for managing a 24/7 mobile crisis response system.
- Incorporate guiding principles and values of Systems of Care into interactions with youth and families, fellow team members, Choices staff, and system partners.
- Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
- Follow established strategic plans and quality improvement procedures to achieve stated goals and enhance the experience of referred individuals with mobile crisis response services.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Associate's Degree with 2 years' experience in behavioral health crisis response or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Strong communication and writing skills. Bi-lingual skills (Spanish) a plus.
- Familiarity with area resources.
- Highly organized, effectively managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Professionally articulate in communicating service expectations, strengths, and needs of clients and outcomes.
- Demonstrated professionalism working in teams with internal colleagues and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.
- Must possess a valid driver's license in the state of residence, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle.
