Job Summary
The Plastics Process Engineer will coordinate and perform optimization and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and layouts/expansions to continually enhance and automate the areas. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams and other team members to maximize continuous improvement projects and new product development processes that meet cost and delivery times.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinates and performs optimization of the manufacturing processes as it relates to machinery, molds, and tooling to continually enhance output while staying within timelines.
- Writes process instructions for the cell groups, ensuring they have been reviewed and validated to meet equipment and tooling standards.
- Troubleshoots and implements best practice solutions to equipment/tooling obstacles, working with Maintenance and Product Managers, to maximize output while meeting downtime constraints.
- Reviews how the machines operate and the plant layout on a consistent basis, working with the Maintenance and Engineering departments, to optimize the areas.
- Partners with cross-functional teams to maximize continuous improvement projects and new product development processes that meet cost and delivery times.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering Technology, Plastics Manufacturing, or similar field with concentration in plastics processing preferred. Would consider candidates with an Associate's degree or related work experience.
- Experience: 0-3 years of experience/understanding in plastics processing within an injection molding manufacturing environment preferred. New and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Solid planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills. Also requires solid math, analytical, and problem-solving skills to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas.
Preferred Skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office experience required. A working knowledge of ERP Systems and familiarity with 6S and Lean Manufacturing is preferred. Knowledge or experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD) would also be a plus.
