JOB SUMMARY
Assist Head Coach in overseeing and administering a sports program, either men or women, at Chowan University: may instruct in assigned areas of health and physical education when given faculty status.
CLASSIFICATION
This position is classified as regular, full-time and reports directly to the Head Coach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist in analyzing performance and instructing athletes in game strategies and techniques;

Assist Head Coach in scheduling, organizing, and overseeing practices; assist in preparing the field for practices and/or games; ensuring equipment is in good working order;

Counsel students and assists them in solving problems;

Assist Head Coach in coordinating recruiting efforts in accordance with University, NCAA, and conference guidelines; contacting recruits, coaches, and parents as directed; setting up campus visits and attending games and tryout camps as directed.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform other functions and duties as requested by Head Coach, such as, but not limited to:

Supervise student employees as directed;

Monitor study halls and reviews players grades.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The Assistant Athletic Coach must possess specific areas of knowledge, skill, and ability to be able to explain and/or demonstrate he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some combination of skills and abilities. Furthermore, he/she must conduct such activities in light of the mission and purpose of Chowan University.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Performance evaluations are based on the incumbents ability to perform, in a timely, accurate, and otherwise positive manner, the essential and marginal functions of this job description. Proper discharge of duties will be measured in part by the number of mistakes made, the ability to work with other employees, and a demonstrated commitment to fulfilling the mission, purpose, and goals of Chowan University.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelors Degree required (Masters a plus)
- Coaching experience at the college/university level (preferably 2 years)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze players proficiency
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to instruct players either individually or in groups.
