The Content Creator at Chowan University is responsible for developing and
disseminating engaging digital content that enhances the university's brand and
supports its mission. Working under the supervision of the Marketing and
Communication Coordinator, the Content Creator will collaborate with various
departments to produce materials that resonate with diverse audiences, including
prospective students, current students, alumni, and the broader community. This
role involves creating content for multiple platforms, ensuring consistency in
messaging and alignment with the university's goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Create, edit, and publish high-quality content for the university's digital
channels, including websites, social media platforms, blogs, and email
campaigns.
● Provide real-time coverage of campus events, ensuring social media
reflects the energy and excitement of student activities and university
milestones.
● Design graphics, capture photographs, and produce videos that effectively
communicate the university's stories and initiatives.
● Develop and implement social media strategies to increase engagement,
monitor metrics, and respond to audience interactions.
● Conduct keyword research and apply SEO best practices to improve the
visibility and ranking of the university's digital content.
● Work closely with the Marketing and Communication Coordinator, the
University Communications Graphic Designer, and other departments to
ensure content aligns with institutional objectives and branding guidelines.
● Assist in developing and maintaining an editorial calendar to ensure timely
and consistent content delivery across all channels.
● Monitor and analyze content performance using analytics tools, providing
insights and recommendations for improvement.
● Ensure all content complies with copyright laws, data protection
regulations, and university policies.
● Attend and cover evening and weekend events as needed.
Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
● Proficiency in content creation, including writing, graphic design,
photography, and videography.
● Experience with content management systems, social media platforms,
SEO tools, and analytics software.
● Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a keen eye for
detail and accuracy.
● Strong ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to
changing priorities.
● Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team,
fostering positive relationships with colleagues.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
● Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic
Design, or a related field.
● Prior experience in content creation, digital marketing, or a similar role,
with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse content types.
