The Finisher will be responsible for fiberglass and gel coat repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow work instructions/drawings for assigned tasks
- Learn to use proper tools for the job including DA sander and buffer.
- Efficient sanding and buffing (no burn through).
- Learn how to identify gel defects such as cracks, thin gel, pre-release, etc.
- Learn to mix gel coat and resins needed for repairs
- Learn how to spot spray gel coat with spray gun
- Learn how to fair in parts
- Repair surface defects in gel coat (scratches, voids, surface distortion, fish eyes, halos) using proper tools
- Cross-train and learn new areas
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred. Technical certification in relevant area helpful.
- Previous experience with gel coat or paint repairs preferred
- Experience working with fiberglass or in auto body repair helpful
- Familiarity with mixing gel coats or paint with activators
- Good working knowledge of repair tools (sanders, buffers, spray equipment)
- Deadline and detail-oriented, ability to stay on task
- Good attention to detail required
- Able to work with a team and independently
- Good attendance required
- Excellent vision required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) – Fiberglass Finisher II
- All requirements of Fiberglass Finisher I
- Prioritize tasks and assignments effectively
- Effectively use proper tools for the job such as DA sander and buffer and hand tools.
- Properly identify gel defects, mix gel coat and resins for repairs, spray gel coat and fair in parts.
- Effective at repairing surface defects in gel
- Highly effective at sanding and buffing using DA tool.
- High level of proficiency
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) – Fiberglass Finisher III
- All requirements of Fiberglass Finisher I and II
- Able to troubleshoot issues
- Expert at sanding and buffing using DA tool
- Expert at repairing defects
- Expert at all parts of finishing
Physical Requirements: Including, but not limited to:
- Climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs., stretching, squatting and bending.
- May work on knees, seated, laying down, standing up.
- May require individual to be in awkward positions.
Environmental Conditions:
- Exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and some outside weather conditions.
- May be exposed to acetone, resin, fiberglass, putties, glues, cleaners.
