The Purpose of Chapel Kids Director
Provides a welcoming, competent, and Spirit-led staff presence in the Chapel Kids by inspiring children, volunteers, and parents to live faithfully and joyfully into the calling of ministry to children. Coordinates all tasks necessary for the effective promotion and implementation of a thriving ministry to children from 6 weeks through 5th Grade..
Your Team
- You will report to the Next Gen Pastor
- You will oversee volunteers teams and coordinators
- You will participate in planning meetings, retreats, and conferences as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Education: BA/BS degree preferred.
- Education and/or experience with Elementaryers, delegation, organization, administration, creativity.
- Exhibits a strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ evidenced in personal relationships, commitment to the church, personal work ethic, compassion, and a heart for lost people.
- Effective team builder with innate people skills.
- Proven ability to design & lead effective children and student ministries that are relevant, excellent and purposeful, and that effectively help Christ Chapel accomplish its mission.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Modeling Biblical Priorities. Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Chapel. The Elementary Director should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. The Elementary Director models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable). The Elementary Director strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions. These objectives are accomplished by:
- Committing to a daily quiet-time with God.
- Participating in a Christ Chapel small group on a regular basis.
- Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.
- Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
- Supporting the ministries of Christ Chapel by faithfully giving at least 10% of gross income.
- Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of Chapel employees, as defined by the Staff Handbook.
- Family Connections. Ensure that the Elementary ministry team provides remarkable service to parents and children on a consistent basis. This includes creating and continuously improving follow-up methods to ensure that new families and their kids are plugged in to Christ Chapel.

- Maintain Christ-like attitude in all conversations and communication
- Celebrate wins with leaders and Champions
- Plan a Champions party each Fall for your team
- This event is not a training event, but an appreciation event that shows your team how much they are loved and appreciated.
- You are also encouraged to take team leaders out for coffee or a meal. This is a great way to invest in others and to pastor or minister to them while building and maintaining relationship with leaders.
- Create measurable wins for your team
- Leadership
- Identify and raise up Trainers and Team Leaders
- Trainer – Brings new Champions members up to speed with the ministry. Schedules shadow training during service times. Evaluates the readiness of each potential Champions with a 1 on 1 interview.
- Room Leader – Leads the team to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Leads pre-service meetings and serve experience on Sunday/Wednesday. Pastor and connect individually with the team.
- Delegate and empower the ministry to your leaders
- Meet monthly with your team leaders
- Support families in crisis by taking a meal or providing a list of community resources
- Ownership & Empowerment
- Each campus is set up with its own budget. This budget reflects the previous year’s needs and expenditures.
- Directors are encouraged and expected to take team leaders out for coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner and encourage their team leaders to do the same for their service team members. Purchasing gifts of love requires permission before making any purchases. These are great ways to invest in others and to pastor or minister to them while building and maintaining relationship with leaders. Keep in mind that this will take extra effort during the week to properly invest in others.
- Stay up to date on communication
- Communications include weekly report that includes a short description of services.
- Prioritize church attendance on a weekly basis.
- Scheduling
- Director is responsible for scheduling leaders for services and various aspects of the service.
- Scheduling can be performed by Team Leaders of various services or by the Director, but is ultimately responsibility of Director.
- Scheduling is done through Planning Center.
- Directors are responsible for keeping Planning Center rosters up to date.
- Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to all correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with needs that may arise.
- Physical Demands:
- Directors may be expected to lift up to 40 pounds
