Spanish Teacher
Position Description
Christ Church Episcopal School (CCES) seeks exceptional candidates for the position of Lower School Spanish Instructor for the 2025-2026 school year. We offer a highly motivated, collaborative learning environment that supports teacher professional growth, nurtures student-teacher relationships, and develops creative and critical thinking skills in every student.
Responsibilities
- Fluent in Spanish with the ability to help language learners acquire language and cultural knowledge
- Plan, design, and deliver engaging and student-centered lessons that is developmentally appropriate and aligned with the PYP and the ACTFL guidelines for language proficiency.
- Implement effective student management procedures and maintain high standards for student conduct
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students
- Collaborate with grade level peers through weekly planning meetings to deliver effective instruction for all students
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within and across divisions to ensure vertical alignment of curricula to effectively support student transition
- Coordinate effective use of instructional assistants to support student learning in the classroom environment
- Use effective instructional technology resources and strategies
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through active participation in professional development
- Serve on committees and engage in professional learning communities
- Commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive community
- Write individualized narrative student reports at required periods during the year to be shared with parents.
- Maintain accurate records and submit reports on time
- Complete required training each year (CPR, first aid, mandatory reporting, etc.)
- Participate in various school community events, after-school activities, and programs to support the overall culture (Parent Nights, concerts, sports, class perfroamnces, etc.)
- Supervise lunch, recess and carpool as required
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of privileged information
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school’s policies, procedures, and practices
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of content, learning theory, and effective instructional practices
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience with instructional technology Instructional technology skills and/or distance learning experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of the constructivist approach to learning
- Expertise in assessment and use of data to inform instruction
- Energy, empathy, flexibility, and collaboration
- Commitment to modeling the mission and values of Christ Church Episcopal School
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Experience in elementary education
- Experience teaching Spanish preferred
