General Summary: Responsible for performing routine administrative and patient care supportive duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of management and clinical staff while displaying compassion, a heart for ministry, and a Christian attitude.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Encounter related:
- Upon intake, confirm all aspects of patient's history and document
- Assist the medical provider during examinations and procedures
- Administration and documentation of injectable medications or immunizations
- Administer nebulizer treatments
- Collect and prepare lab specimens as needed including venipuncture
- Perform ECG and PFT
- Administer vision and hearing screens
- Call other offices/facilities for records as needed
- Prepare, clean and stock exam rooms routinely
- Entering historic immunization records into GRITS and EMR
Non-encounter related:
- Completes telephone encounters from providers and other clinical and administrative staff
- Notify patients of test results Medication refills per procedures
- Review and sort provider mall
- Processing scanned documents per protocols
- Faxing signed documents
- Answer questions and give appropriate information directly or via telephone within the limits of medical knowledge and background
- Provide patient and family education related to disease processes at his or her level; promote patient involvement in the plan of care
Special Consideration:
- Conducting diabetic eye exams - if applicable.
- Placement of Holter Monitor- if applicable
- Scribing for Medical Provider- if applicable
- Language Translation- if applicable
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Completion of medical assistant program or equivalent (Required)
- Certification through AAMA (preferred)
- On the job training with exceptional extensive experience may be considered in lieu of certification. Other medical assistant certification may be considered with exceptional extensive experience
- eCW EMR/Computer literacy (preferred)
- GRITS (preferred)
- BLS Certification (preferred)
- Venipuncture (preferred)
- Proficient Keyboarding (preferred)
