JOB SUMMARY :
The Medication Inventory Control Specialist is a pharmacy technician or nurse responsible for overseeing and managing medication room inventories across Christ Community Health Services Memphis clinics (Broad, Frayser, Hickory Hill, Orange Mound, Raleigh, Third Street, School-Based Health Clinics, and Operation Outreach). Frequent travel to multiple clinics is a daily requirement, as this role focuses on the ordering and receiving medications, intrauterine devices, and vaccines so that clinics are appropriately and sufficiently stocked. The Medication Inventory Control Specialist will work closely with medical staff, pharmacy staff, as well as with various members of administration to prevent inventory overstock and drug waste, and streamline inventory levels to ensure medication rooms are stocked efficiently and cost effectively. Additionally, the Medication Inventory Control Specialist will be required to assist Christ Community Health Services pharmacy staff with inventory management and controlling pharmacy stock.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Medication Room Inventory Management :
- Ensure appropriate amounts of medications, intrauterine devices, and vaccines are ordered on a weekly basis to prevent shortages and overstock in the medication room
- Utilize reporting in eClinicalWorks (eCW) to analyze medication room stock and determine appropriate drugs and vaccines to order.
- Travel to each Memphis clinic location to perform weekly inventory audits, adjustments, and to receive medication room orders
- Enrollment and utilization of the Tennessee Immunization Information System (TennIIS) to access Vaccines for Children (VFC) ordering
- Serves as primary VFC contact for all clinics.
- Train secondary VFC contact to handle questions / concerns if Medication Inventory Specialist is not available.
- Maintain accurate inventory records weekly and monthly as necessary
- Perform timely inventory reconciliation and clearly address discrepancies with clinic staff and pharmacy administration.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Work is performed in a clinic setting. Travel to Christ Community Health Services’ clinics in the Memphis area is required. Physical demands include being required to walk throughout the clinic, pharmacy, and patient areas for extended periods of time, lifting items up to 20 pounds, experiencing long periods of sitting and standing, and frequent use of computer, keyboard, and phone.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather, the Inventory Control Specialist will be expected to provide support to clinic and / or pharmacy staff virtually. Appropriate equipment will be provided in order for tasks such as inventory monitoring, tracking stock, prescription data entry, etc. to be performed remotely.
