Finance - Senior Associate
Overview
This role performs business management and financial functions for Christ Covenant church finding resourceful solutions leveraging technology and team interactions to support financial operations. This role supports long and short-term planning, accountability, accurate reporting, and fiscal responsibility and will report to our Executive Director of Operations. Below are expectations for which the employee in this role will be responsible and accountable during each of the annual performance review cycles.
Essential Job Functions
- Analysis and Reporting
- Train the ministry and operations team to submit their coding of expenditures accurately and in a timely manner
- Approve expenditures and the associated coding to be reflected in our accounting systems
- Manage and reconcile the upload of manual donations to our donation platform as well as deposits to our bank on a weekly basis
- Liaise with our outsourced accounting provider to communicate and align on activities in the church to better inform the monthly closing of financial records and assist with any reconciling activities
- Assist with the design and improvement of policies impacting financial operations
- Manage financial institutions (bank, investments, etc.) and technology providers relevant to the Finance function (software providers, etc.)
- Work with the Executive team and ministry leaders to assist in the preparation of the annual church budget and periodic forecasts
- Perform analysis of revenue generating activities (non-donation related) and associated costs to determine financial impact
- Assist with managing the external CPA review and relationship, including organizing information for the annual review and being actively involved in addressing recommendations and adjustments
- Attend and participate in periodic Finance Committee Meetings
- Help maintain confidential donor contribution records and send out donor statements on a periodic basis
- Payroll
- Learn and ultimately oversee the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payrolls
- Ensure payroll accuracy, including salary, bonuses, deductions, benefits and imputed income
- Liaise with the Human Resources department regarding changes in staff employment, benefits and staff policies that have a financial impact (including in payroll in many cases)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- At least 3 years of related work experience
Technical Skills
Candidates should demonstrate desire to engage with technology to help streamline more routine tasks to create time for analysis and productive insights. The following technology products are currently in use by Christ Covenant: Rippling (Spend, Payroll and HR), Sage Intacct (Accounting), Martus (Budgeting and Forecasting), Overflow (Donations), Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
