Description
POSITION PURPOSE : Instruction and remediation for students with learning differences as well as supporting the learning services function across campus.
POSITION OUTCOMES / EXPECTATIONS :
- Evaluate the testing and professional diagnosis information related to students in need of individual learning strategies and facilitate the development of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) appropriate to meet the students' educational needs through modifications and accommodations.
- Meet with families of students in the Learning Services Program to review and interpret educational testing, explain how an ILP will be implemented within the school's curriculum, and make recommendations for utilizing additional home and community resources.
- Collaborate with school administrators on the integrative functions of the Learning Services team.
- Keep updated on State criteria for certification of disabilities.
- Attend / Lead specific ILP conferences and in those settings exemplifies a positive attitude, spirit of collaboration, and is an engaged community member always seeking to promote the mission, vision and values of the academy.
- Demonstrates professional demeanor, maintains appropriate boundaries, and performs all faculty-related duties with enthusiasm and diligence, and builds positive student relationships.
- Has clear understanding of best practice in remediation and differentiated instruction for different learning styles, specifically math related learning disabilities.
- Designs, plans, and keeps updated ILPs so students will meet specified goals.
- Assesses students using highly effective diagnostic, summative, and formative assessments
- Collaborates regularly with the school faculty regarding students with specific learning needs.
- Effectively organizes and conducts meetings with parents, teachers, and students in a timely manner.
- Incorporates innovative and learner-appropriate uses of technology to engage students and improve learning.
- Clearly communicates and consistently enforces high standards for student behavior.
- Communicates clear learning expectations to students using visual aids and systems of reinforcement.
- Provide executive functioning support to students during directed study halls.
- Orchestrates effective strategies, materials, and student groupings to foster optimal student learning.
- Collects and analyzes student and instructional data and makes adjustments to math interventions to improve student learning.
- Provides support within the math classroom as needed to facilitate learning for all students.
- Conduct standardized assessments and progress monitoring for assigned students.
- Keeps clear documentation and adequate data on individual progress of students.
