What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at Christ the King Lutheran Church?
MISSION OF POSITION: To provide a Christian environment where children have the opportunity to grow spiritually, emotionally, academically and socially in a play-based curriculum.
JOB POSITION SUMMARY: Our teachers have the opportunity to come alongside children in play while working in a preschool that values low ratios in a loving, Christ-centered environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 12 units in Early Childhood Education and meet the minimum State of California Core Class Requirements
- A Christian who loves children and enjoys being in a busy child-filled play-based environment
- The ability to create a lesson plan that offers diverse play centers with a variety of materials like blocks, dress-up clothes, art supplies, dramatic play props, and outdoor play equipment.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and excels in problem solving
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
- This position requires extended periods of time standing, squatting bending and lifting of children (up to 50lbs) and equipment
- Physically able to participate in all activities with children, (e.g.: playing on floor gym activities and participating in outdoor activities)
- Some night and weekend expectations for a few yearly preschool activities such as a Christmas Concert and Preschool Sunday at Christ the King Lutheran Church
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Plan and carry out an educational program according to the guidelines, philosophies and beliefs of the Christ the King Lutheran Church Preschool
- Report directly to the Preschool Director for weekly meetings
- Attend all staff meetings (One evening per month) and share ideas and materials with other staff members
- Participate in training programs, conferences, workshops and continuing education when appropriate
