Position Summary:
Christ the King School, a National Blue Ribbon School, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Elementary School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and personal development of our students. The ideal candidate will play a key role in implementing the Second Step Curriculum, promoting character education, facilitating conflict resolution, and supporting our school’s philosophy of Responsive Classrooms. The counselor works in collaboration with teachers, administration, and families to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment that reflects the values of our Catholic community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and support the Second Step Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum across all grade levels.
- Provide classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling to address students' academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate SEL into the classroom and reinforce positive behavior strategies.
- Lead initiatives that promote character development and a positive school climate.
- Assist students and staff in resolving interpersonal conflicts in a constructive and respectful manner.
- Serve as a key member of the school's Responsive Classroom support team.
- Maintain open and ongoing communication with parents, guardians, and staff regarding student well-being and support strategies.
- Identify students in need of additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions or referrals when necessary.
- Uphold and model the Catholic values and mission of Christ the King School in all interactions and responsibilities.
- Familiarity with the ASCA National model and implementation when applicable.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
- Experience with elementary-aged children in a school setting preferred.
- Familiarity with Second Step and Responsive Classroom programs a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and faith-filled learning environment.

This position has an hourly salary of $30.00. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
