Job Summary:
The School Counselor at Christ the King plays a crucial role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. The counselor will work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to promote a positive school environment and help students navigate their educational journey. Key Responsibilities:
- Counseling Services: Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
- Academic Support: Assist students in developing academic goals, selecting courses, and improving study skills, while monitoring progress throughout the school year.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to student crises and provide appropriate interventions, support, and referrals to external resources when necessary.
- Parent Collaboration: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, address concerns, and facilitate parent workshops.
- School Programs: Develop and implement school-wide programs and initiatives that promote mental health awareness, social-emotional learning, and conflict resolution.
- Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to create a safe and supportive school environment conducive to learning.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, student progress, and interventions while ensuring confidentiality.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with best practices in school counseling, mental health resources, and relevant educational laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor, or ability to obtain a Class B License.
- Strong understanding of child development, mental health, and effective counseling techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
