TITLE: CTK Pastoral Resident

COMPENSATION: Annual Salary Seminary Funding
Position Summary
The CTK Pastoral Residency Program exists to train and equip men and women for a lifetime of pastoral ministry. Through corporate discernment, seminary training, hands on experience, and practical instruction, Residents will be equipped to serve Christ’s church in long-term pastoral leadership. Each Resident will work 20-30 hours per week at the church, allowing time for continuing seminary education. Residents will experience a broad range of pastoral and leadership responsibilities while receiving training, mentoring, and feedback. Residents will discern their call to ordained ministry in cooperation with the parish and diocese. The Residency will last three years. At the end of three years, Residents will be both ordainable and employable, ready to serve in senior church leadership.
Areas of Responsibility
- Build, support, and/or lead specific ministry in the church according to Resident’s individual interests and gifts, taking into consideration CTK’s needs.
- We seek a Pastoral Resident to lead our Youth Ministry. Specific Youth Ministry responsibilities are found here.
- Participation in organizational meetings (staff, diocesan, and vestry meetings)
- Occasional Preaching at CtK services
- Participation in Sunday worship (Reading scripture, serving Eucharist, leading prayer, etc.)
- Meetings with church members who have vocations in diverse fields outside the church, in the members’ workplaces when possible, with focus on workplace ministry
- Continue to refine the Residency program, even as they are participating
Training and Education
Residents will be enrolled in a seminary approved by the Anglican Church in North America; and when applicable, under the guidance of the diocese. Residents receive monthly training and mentorship on a variety of subjects that fall under the umbrella “Things they don’t teach you in seminary.”
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have/possess:
• A vibrant personal faith
• The high standards of pastoral leadership as found in 1 Timothy 3
• Completed at least 30 credit hours towards their Master of Divinity degree
• Some experience in parish ministry
• Enthusiasm for pastoral ministry in the Anglican church
• A three-year commitment
• Affirm the doctrinal confessions in the Jerusalem Declaration of 2008 without reservation.
About Christ the King
Christ the King (CTK) is a daughter church of The Falls Church Anglican, and a member of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic, a regional diocese of the Anglican Church in North America. CTK began in January 2006 under the leadership of the Rev. David Glade. We are located in Alexandria, Virginia, heavily influenced by our proximity to Washington, DC, and committed to our community. Average Sunday attendance is 300 souls. We have enjoyed steady growth in the depth and breadth of our music ministry, children’s and youth ministries, and men’s and women’s ministries, and small groups. Two international and four local mission partners complement our church’s vision.
Compensation
Residency will include all seminary costs, including tuition and books, as well as salary.
