Christel House Indianapolis provides a holistic human development approach that focuses on building strong character and habits of work to complement each student’s rigorous academic foundation. As part of an innovative school transformation grant, we are launching a new K-8 enrichment program. Our enrichment activities provide our students even more opportunities to explore college and career pathways, while expanding the character and habits of work that will make them successful leaders. In this unique role, you will teach our College & Career curriculum, reaching every K-8 student and family in our school. You will also coordinate an exciting portfolio of enrichment providers offering co-curricular activities during and after school to help our students cultivate new interests and build their character and habits of work.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
College & Career Instruction
- Teach approximately 2 hours per day, reaching all K-8 students in weekly 30-60 minute lessons using our network College & Career curriculum
- Work with the network College & Career staff to plan and facilitate field trips and other experiences allowing students and families to explore college and career options
- Serve as the school-based point of contact for College & Careers information for students, parents, and staff
Enrichment Coordination
- Create cohesive messaging and systems for students to reflect and receive feedback on their character and habits of work
- Collaborate with school leadership to select, train, and coordinate enrichment partners who are aligned to goals of career exposure and/or building students’ character and habits of work
- Provides oversight to co-curricular programs, including after school
- Other duties as assigned
Please note: this role will work on a 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. schedule during the school year in order to provide coordination to after school activities.
Requirements
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Spanish bilingual preferred
- Experience teaching or leading large groups of students, with experience across the K-8 age range preferred
- High level of organizational effectiveness and strong communication skills
- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
- A strong belief in the mission and goals of Christel House Schools and a passion for college and career readiness
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Salary Description
$58,000 plus benefits
