Scope
Christian Academy seeks to hire a Middle School Bible/Missions teacher. This full-time, 10-month position plays a key role in the success of the Christian Academy School System and the fulfillment of its mission to develop students with a heart for God. The Bible/Missions teacher will plan, teach, organize and coordinate all school mission activities. This position will also support our Middle School Guidance Counselor, mainly in assisting students with school schedules.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
- A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
- A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
- Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System
- Agreement and belief that the Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind
The ideal candidate shall possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Current state teaching certificate/license preferred
- Meet certification guidelines required to obtain and maintain active ACSI teacher certification throughout employment
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Teach sections of Bible to support the Bible Department and lead Missions efforts
- Plan, organize, and coordinate all school mission activities, including but not limited to, meal packing and fundraising
- Maintain a visible presence on campus by being in the hallways, classrooms, cafeteria, and extra-curricular activities to develop relationships that include a broad base of the student body
- Teach and develop a love for God’s word and work in our school, community and around the world
- Work with the Middle School Counselor on a regular basis to aid in the planning of programs that support student academic, character, and social development
- Work with the Chapel Coordinator and House Coordinator on a regular basis to support and plan activities that develop students with a heart for God
- Conduct informational parent meetings as needed (one at Open House and others before specific events)
- Coordinate with the Campus Missions Director and Chapel Coordinator on chapels that deal with missions
- Coordinate efforts with the Campus Missions Director, and the Director of Biblical Unity to meet the needs of our school, community and world (i.e. We Unify, disaster relief, raising funds for a needy family/school)
Spiritual Leadership:
- Intentionally integrates Biblical values and morals
- Understands and implements the Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, peers and administration in an appropriate manner
- Assess students' spiritual leads them in spiritual growth
- Leads students in daily prayer and devotions
- Models a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ
Instructional Planning & Preparation:
- Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy (the art and science of teaching)
- Designs lessons with clear, focused and measurable instructional objectives
- Objectives provide for deliberate skill development in the high order thinking processes
- Plans include integration of technology to enhance/accelerate learning and mastery of content
Instructional Delivery:
- Demonstrates Biblical integration and Christian worldview
- Establishes learning expectations with well-defined openings
- Guides students to apply learning to real-world applications
- Implements a variety of strategies to introduce, explain and restate subject matter concepts
- Employs a variety of questioning techniques that enhances critical thinking
Classroom Environment:
- Creates a learning environment promoting positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation; creates an environment of respect and rapport through reinforcement and praise
- Encourages students to accept God and the gift of salvation and grow in their faith
- Provides opportunities for students to lead prayer and devotions
- Provides opportunities for students to develop a Christian mind and lifestyle
- Manages student behavior: implements classroom rules, routines and procedures that allow a student to assume his/her own responsibility
- Organizes physical space: attractive, well-ordered, conducive to learning and student work displayed

- Communicates in a positive, clear manner
