What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Health Room Nurse position at Christian Academy - Indiana Campus?
The Substitute Health Room Nurse provides preventive health services for children Pre-K - Grade 12, to facilitate the student’s optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and ailments. Identifies problems and disabilities and provides such services as case finding, health education, referral and care in order to help prevent and treat illness or serious health problems. He/She supports the education process by working to ensure the health of the students and maintain open communication with parents or guardians. The Substitute nurse will be on an on-call, as needed basis during the 10 months school is in session.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:

- A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
- Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System
The ideal candidate shall:
- Be qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana and holds a current, unrestricted license
- Be certified in CPR or BLS
- Possess excellent assessment skills and a minimum of one year experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing or pediatric nursing
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Assists with screening programs and immunization review/follow up for the school
- Assists with ongoing maintenance and review of all student health records to ensure compliance with Indiana State Requirements (with some flexible summer work)
- Conducts screenings and evaluates findings of deficit in vision and hearing
- Serves as the health care consultant for school personnel, students and their parents/families
- Assures that policies and health care procedures adhere to legal and regulatory requirements and ethical standards of nursing practice
