What are the responsibilities and job description for the Faculty - HS Athletic Performance Training position at Christian Academy of Knoxville?
The High School Athletic Performance Training ("APT") Teacher will work with the Director of Athletic Performance and will be responsible for the administration of the APT course. The teacher should have a strong understanding of athletic performance training and strength and conditioning. The teacher must demonstrate well-developed organizational and communication skills.
The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations is required.

Requirements:Essential duties and responsibilities include teaching Athletic Performance Training to high school students by performing the following duties:
- Assist the Director of Sports Performance in developing a curriculum for each student taking the APT course.
- Escort students to/from the high school building and the Campus Center for the APT class.
- Instruct and engage students through individualized workout plans and methods that teach the value of performance training and lifelong fitness.
- Be passionate about preparing our students physically and developing the mentality and character to lead a healthy and fit lifestyle.
- Prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
- Carefully monitor data regarding student progress and make necessary instructional adjustments to ensure student success.
- Administer tests, when appropriate, to evaluate student progress, record results, and develop reports to inform parents of progress.
- Maintain classroom standards, including keeping attendance records, grade reports, and ensuring discipline in the classroom.
- Communicate regularly with families as partners in the education of their children.
- Welcome opportunities and actively participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Perform related duties as instructed by the Director of Athletic Performance and within the athletic department such as coaching one or more sports.
- Maintain communication with the direct supervisor, the high school principal, and participate in all meetings and professional development as assigned.

Course Description:
The Athletic Performance Training course seeks to accomplish three major goals: teach lifelong fitness and movement skills, improve athletic performance, and reduce injuries. The course is based on the scientific principles of kinesiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports medicine, and athletic training. Coach Pate is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) who will engage, educate, and empower students to develop skills that will translate to improved sports performance and a lifetime of wellness. Our instructor will work in cooperation with coaches to devise individual training plans for each student based on their specific needs and sports season and work directly with the sports medicine staff in the rehabilitation of injured students.
