What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant position at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel?
Job announcement
At the
Technical Faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Institute for Materials Science,
starting from the next possible date the position of a
research associate
is to be filled.
The position is available from 01.09.2024 (for at least three years). The regular weekly working time is that of a full employee (100%). The salary is in accordance with the German “Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst” salary group 13 TV-L. The possibility for a PhD is given.
Responsibilities
The main tasks comprise the modeling of materials and engineering structures. New simulation models are to be developed for the behavior of the applied materials. Moreover, the tasks focus on finite element calculations and the extension of finite element codes.
The mechanical and magnetic behavior of the investigated materials is characterized by an interaction of various phenomena on different scales, which can’t be captured by experiments only. The influence of the microstructure on the material behavior is to be modeled.
Qualifications
- Master in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, physics, materials science or comparable
- Basic Knowledge in the field of finite element methods
- Interest in modeling of material behavior, in particular mechanics and/or magnetic fields
- Good communication skills
The University of Kiel strives to increase the proportion of female researchers in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to apply. Women are given priority in the case of equivalent qualifications, proficiency, and professional performance.
The University of Kiel has an equal opportunities policy for persons with recognized disabilities. Disabled persons with the necessary qualifications will therefore be given priority.
We explicitly welcome applications of people with immigrant backgrounds.
Applications with the usual documents (incl. Bachelor-/Master-grades) shall be sent by e-mail to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Wulfinghoff (swu@tf.uni-kiel.de, working group „Computational Materials Science“) until 15.07.2024.
