Position Overview:
The Church Musician holds a sacred role within Christian Baptist Church, utilizing the profound language of music to elevate worship services into deeply meaningful experiences. Key Responsibilities:
1. Musical Selection and Preparation:
· Carefully curate a repertoire of hymns, anthems, and instrumental pieces that align with each service's themes and speak to our congregation's diverse experiences and emotions.
· Invest time in rehearsal and preparation to deliver each musical piece with sincerity, excellence, and deep reverence.
2. Instrumental Proficiency:
· Masterfully play the organ, piano, or other instruments, infusing each note with passion and purpose to lead congregational singing, accompany the choir, and enhance the worship experience.
· Display versatility in musical styles, ranging from traditional hymns to contemporary compositions, to cater to the varied preferences within our church community.
3. Choir Leadership and Development:
· Lead and inspire the church choir through regular rehearsals, offering guidance in vocal technique, musical interpretation, and spiritual expression.
· Cultivate a sense of unity and camaraderie within the choir, fostering an environment where members feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow musically and spiritually.
4. Collaboration and Coordination:
· Work closely with the Pastor, worship committee, and other church leaders to integrate music seamlessly into the worship experience, ensuring alignment with each service's overarching message and objectives.
· Offer creative input and suggestions for incorporating music into special events, seasonal celebrations, and outreach initiatives that engage and enrich the broader community.
5. Instrumental Care and Maintenance:
· Take responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of all musical instruments owned by the church, ensuring they are maintained in optimal playing conditions to enhance the quality of musical performance.
6. Community Engagement and Outreach:
· Serve as a musical ambassador for the church by organizing special concerts, recitals, or outreach events that showcase the transformative power of music and invite the community to experience God's love and grace.
7. Musical Resource Management:
· Manage the church's music library meticulously, maintaining an organized catalog of sheet music, hymnals, and other resources and acquiring new compositions or arrangements to enrich the musical repertoire.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· A deep personal commitment to the Christian faith and a passion for using music to worship praise, and spiritual expression.
· Proficiency in playing the organ, piano, or other musical instruments, accompanied by a strong understanding of music theory and performance techniques.
· Ability to inspire and empower singers of all ages and abilities.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clergy, fellow musicians, volunteers, and members of the congregation.
· Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the capacity to balance multiple responsibilities within a dynamic church environment.
· A willingness to embrace innovation and creativity in musical expression while respecting and honoring our faith community's rich traditions.
· Perform duties of the Minister of Music, when necessary

Pay: $25,000.00 - $30,000.00 per year
