Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Middle School Science Teacher with a strong STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) emphasis to inspire and educate students in grades 6 & 7. The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic, hands-on learning environment that encourages scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving through interdisciplinary instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement engaging lesson plans in life science, earth science, physical science, and STEM-related subjects in alignment with state and national standards via a national program called Project Lead the Way (PLTW).
* Facilitate inquiry-based labs, experiments, and collaborative projects that build student skills in the scientific method, data analysis, and engineering design.
* Utilize technology and digital tools to enhance learning experiences and support differentiated instruction.
* Monitor student progress through assessments, feedback, and ongoing communication with parents and guardians.
* Integrate a traditional classroom science experience into the STEM (PLTW) curriculum so that students have both experiences
* Maintain an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners and encourages student participation and growth.
* Facilitate a 7 th grade science fair project, including a research report and display and fair event.
* Uphold classroom and schoolwide policies while creating a safe and respectful learning space.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related STEM field preferred (Master’s degree preferred).
* Valid LA teaching certification in Middle School Science or STEM Education (or other related field) or qualified as per non-public school standards.
* Demonstrated experience or interest in integrating STEM into curriculum.
* Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
* Ability to engage middle school learners through innovative and hands-on teaching methods.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with problem-based learning and inquiry-driven instruction.
* Proficiency with educational technology platforms (Canvas, FACTS).
* Proficiency with AutoCAD
* Participation or leadership in STEM extracurricular activities or competitions (Makerspace, Lego/Robotics, etc.)

Pay: $44,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
