Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications is responsible for serving as the liaison between the Athletics Department and the Gulf South Conference (GSC) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), oversees media relations for all Buccaneers sports, and will help enhance the brand and tell the stories of CBU Athletics. The primary objectives include producing content to promote student-athletes and coaches, coordinating game day operations, including directing game crew, compiling game statistics in conjunction with live stats and livestreaming, and budget management. This position reports to the Director of Athletics. It must develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students, while interacting successfully with the department personnel and the College community.

Expectations include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as the primary media contact for all sports teams (currently 17 NCAA & 1 club)
• Oversee and perform/assign game day operations related to media, press box, scorer's table, game statistics, game programs, and pre/postgame press conferences
• Oversee maintenance of the athletics website (CBUBucs.com), including but not limited to posting/updating schedules, rosters, student-athlete and staff bios, and maintaining updated record books
• Produce regular press releases (season and event previews, recaps, and other news)
• Use social media to promote individual teams and CBU Athletics
• Nominate student-athletes and coaches for GSC/NCAA/Coaches Associations awards.
• Handle requests from outside media sources for interviews, statements, and credential distribution.
• Work collaboratively with the University's Advancement Office when required on athletic-related news stories and events.
• Supervise a part-time graduate assistant and a staff of student workers.
• Managing, scheduling, and maintaining media equipment, adherence to institutional, Gulf South Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Supporting the vision of the CBU Athletics Department.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Two (2) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specific to this position
• Excellent communication and computer skills required.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Five (5) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specific to this position.
