Medication Technician (MT)
General Description:
The Medication Technician (MT) is responsible for administering medications, reordering medications, and maintaining cart cleanliness and organization. The Medication Technician is also responsible for assisting the RCAs with resident care per care plan guidelines. This position reports to the Director of Clinical Care.
Essential Job Functions:
- Medication management i.e. administration, reordering, disposing of medications
- Monitoring and communicating any health concerns to the DOCC as appropriate
- Communicates with family with any changes in resident care or concerns
- Collaborates with physicians, agencies, and other institutions to improve quality of services for the residents
- Provides supervision to resident care aides
- Delivers resident care following the plan of care
- Maintains a clean, clutter free, and safe environment in the resident rooms, work units, and all other areas of the facility
- Builds and maintains relationships with residents, families, co-workers, and other visitors
- Reports any unusual occurrence, observation, or change in a patient’s conditions to the DOCC or ADOCC
- Understands and practices HIPA: providing privacy, confidentiality of residents, and their information
- Knowledge of emergency preparedness plans
- Understands standard of care and infection control practices
- Maintains a record of good attendance
- Maintains a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with the Handbook
- Resolves problems through appropriate chain of command
- Uses proper body mechanics in handling and transferring residents
- Upholds the mission statement, values, and goals of Christian Care
- Attends or completes in service classes or programs when posted
- Promotes a team centered environment and good customer service
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
Physical Demands
- Experience preferred. 2 years of resident care experience a plus
- Med pass experience a plus
- CNA or MA preferred but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Some bending and stooping
- Position includes standing and sitting for a period of time
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
