Job Summary:
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing would include assisting the Director of Nursing in all aspects of resident care, directing, organizing, and implementing nursing care and nursing services.
Job Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School
of Nursing
Licensure: Current state license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational
Nurse, current state driver's license
Experience: 2 years of experience in geriatric, LTC, and /or psychiatric nursing.
Skills: Nursing skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Good
interpersonal skills. Specialized skills preferred in palliation and end of life and
basic computer skills.
Transportation: Ability to ensure timely arrival or stable transportation.
Exemption Status: Exempt
Physical and Mental Effort:
The Assistant Director of Nursing works primarily in an office environment but must also be able to move throughout the buildings and grounds as needed throughout the day; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines. Prolonged walking and standing required.
Essential Functions:
Participates in recruitment and selection of nursing personnel.
Assumes responsibility for nursing services in the absence of Director of Nursing.
Participates in training and education of nurse assistants.
Recognizes and responds to changes in residents' conditions and documents observations, interventions, and outcomes.
Monitor absenteeism to ensure that adequate nursing personnel are always on duty.
On call responsibility.
Assists in facilitating the coordination of nursing services with other departments to maintain quality care for residents and offer equal opportunities for teammates.
Assists with organizing, managing, reviewing, monitoring, authorizing, and administering nursing care functions for residents within the facility.
Assists in making routine rounds.
Participates in on-going training and in-services for improving knowledge and updating skills.
Performs other assignments and duties as requested
