President/Head of School - The King's Academy
TITLE: President/Head of School
REPORTS TO: Board of Trustees
NATURE OF POSITION: The President/Head of School is the Chief Executive Officer of the Academy. The position responsibilities are for daily operations as well as visionary leadership for future growth and development. Liaison with various publics is considered integral to this role, including relations with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, Board of Trustees, print and news media, academy personnel, parents, alumni and donors. The President/Head of School is authorized by the Board of Trustees to enter into contractual relationships with banks, vendors, employees, etc., on behalf of the Academy. The President/Head of School serves at the pleasure and will of the Board of Trustees.
MINISTRY PURPOSE: In accordance with Ephesians 4:11-12 and Titus 2:7-8 the President/Head of School is responsible for training the next generation of Christian leaders and equipping them for a life of service to their Savior, homes, churches, vocations, and communities.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide for the accomplishment of the Academy’s mission and the advancement of the Academy
- Maintain daily campus operations in accord with Board-adopted policies and procedures
- Maintain operations consistent with standards of current accreditation agencies
- Executive and Administrative Leadership
- Provide direct oversight of the Executive Team and Administrative Team to ensure the operational, academic, and financial health of the Academy
- Foster a collaborative leadership culture that promotes accountability, innovation, and alignment with the Academy’s mission and strategic goals
- Guide and support team leaders in the development, implementation, and assessment of institutional policies and procedures
- Conduct regular meetings with executive and administrative leaders to assess progress toward institutional objectives and address emerging challenges proactively
- Ensure effective communication, coordination, and execution across all departments under the Academy’s organizational structure
- Human and Financial Resources
- Oversee the Business Office operations to assure proper accounting and reporting procedures are followed and to ensure that Human Resources practices are appropriate and legal
- Maintain and monitor relations with banks, lending institutions, vendors, Tennessee Baptist Foundation and other firms with whom the Academy transacts business or exchanges funds

- Academic Affairs and Student Life
- Supervise the Principal(s), who in turn supervises all academic division heads and faculty
- Supervise the Athletic Director, who in turn supervises all coaches
- Monitor academic and student life operations (athletics, social activities, residence life, etc.) to assure programs are consistent with academy’s mission
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Residence Life Department to ensure that the residential program fosters a Christ-centered, safe, and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that residential policies and practices support the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of boarding students
iii. Advocating for the unique needs of boarding students and their integration into the wider school community
- Spiritual Life
- Seek to be a role model in attitude, speech, and actions in a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Be prepared to communicate the school’s religious beliefs to students, families, faculty, and others who inquire.
- Be available and willing to pray with and offer spiritual advice to students.
- Follow Matthew 18 principles in addressing issues with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Ensures the biblical integration is being implemented through department supervisors.
- Facilities, Land Use and Planning
- Supervise and oversee all areas of operation to establish priorities and assure physical plant condition is maintained in a safe and functional condition.
- Lead in the planning of campus development to provide for growth and expansion
- Public Relations and Development
- Lead and oversee a development program to provide a comprehensive range of fund raising and marketing elements including but not limited to:
- Annual Fund

- Alumni Affairs
- Supervise the Admissions department to ensure appropriate policies, procedures, and strategies are in place to reach new families and build the school’s enrollment
- Serve as the primary contact person with broadcast and print news media in conjunction with the Communications department
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Academy and the Tennessee Baptist Convention through the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, the Committee on Boards, Partner Ministries Committee, and the Committee on Audits, reporting regularly and as requested
- Assume additional related duties at the direction of the Academy Board of Trustees
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A committed and mature Christian with a vibrant personal faith and a passion for Christian education.
- Master’s degree required; education, leadership preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in education, preferably in a Christian school setting.
- Demonstrated strength in visionary leadership, communication, and organizational management.
- Proven ability to inspire, lead, and unify diverse teams and communities.
